New Year’s Eve

December 31, 2025

8:59pm.

Here we are. New Year’s Eve.

Of course, a time like this makes you reflect on everything you did, or did not do, in the days past. I’ve learned that starting a new year in the cold while everything is full of death and decay, does not sit right with me.

Spring is the time of rebirth and renewal.

It’s when the nature’s life is bursting from the seams. Mammals awaken, bees begin their daily work, and we humans suffer of pollen exposure.

Must be nice *not* to be allergic to pollen for I suffer every single year.

The sneezing.

The itchy throat.

The red, watery eyes.

Allergy season is my mortal enemy.

I have weathered this battle year after year, and quite honestly, it’s been kicking my ass. Most years there’s no clear winner and some years I prevail while watching my fallen brethren and sisters succumb to its power.

Unless you’re one of them ones that brave through allergy season unmedicated, keeping a stash of Benadryl on you is essential. Don’t kid yourself thinking that you can go without for our enemy is always watching, always waiting, always laying a trap for the souls who don’t know any better to step into the battlefield unprepared.

It is funny that I am here dreading 2026’s pollen season and it is December 31, 2025.

Signed,

A soldier lying in wait,

– Seven
